Chanel A/W 09/10

The Chanel tradition is proceeding. According to the current collection Karl Lagerfeld said: “When I designed the collection for Chanel, I only was putting the notes of Coco together to a new composition.”

In that season Chanel presents very poised and charming versions of coat-dresses and skirt suits, which are graded up by feminine white collar and cuff treatments. There are frothy plissé ruffs, chiffon camellias, and frills encircled the neck or sleeves on soft, fitted black silhouettes.

It is a flourishing mix out of old-school pieces like the consistently recurring hats, the coats and jackets and edgy pieces like the jumpsuits and plastic-bags. Also the schoolbag builds a contrast to the classy style. The all-over jumpsuits with Africa-inspired pattern show the modern spirit Lagerfeld puts into the traditional Channel philosophy.

Lagerfeld worked with bouclé, lace, knit, satin, and sequins, while also swerving in the direction of the leather trend. That trend he interpreted in slim drop-waist dresses. His outstanding talent to combine exceptional things appears in the combination of filmy cloths with firm and classical jackets.

The colours pale green or baby pink are the decorating highlights in a range of overriding black and white designs. The jade Deco-style of pendants and neckpieces aerate in a refreshing way. That pale green can also be found in the jade rings implanted in several pairs of heels.

Finally I think the current winter collection is a felicitous effort bringing freshness to the house of Channel. Lagerfeld always creates a new and exciting composition of marvellous style. The pieces harmonise all together in an easy-going way. Great fashion!

was a silent-movie star and scandalous It-girl. She was a typical flapper of the 20's. The flappers wore their galoshes open, which flapped when they went. They didn't wear corsetts and lived a wicked life. Night-time visits of jazzclubs, provocative dancing, smoking with long cigarette-holders, drinking alcohol and dates with men - That's flapper's lifestyle. Their look was also unique: Much make-up, chunky jewellery like pearl-necklaces and wristbands and the boyish and black "Bob"-haircut. Clara once said: "Matrimony isn't the only job for women, anymore."

By combing trough iquons I've found the inspiring prints of the brasilian designer Amonstro.There is a mix-match of art designs, acid-wash, colourful patterns and batik. Also the fringed pullover is fantastic. But as well I'd like to have the freaky glasses, they would flash of course.

A few months ago I bought a piece of the work of BB. It's a cute necklace handmade of padded fabric. In the middle of it there is drawn a weird creature with a heart-head on it. All arround it is ambroidered with shiny pearls. An unlike accessory made by an italian artist, who I became aware of through myspace. Now she has already made an exhibition in Florence and her work have became to it-pieces.

When you stay in front of a drawing by meyoko, you have to stay eternally to find all the aesthetic hidden creatures, patterns, animals, faces and other ectlectic things. There is an incredible variety of ideas concentrated on one drawing. I think a drawing of meyoko is the mirror what happens in a creative head. It is really outstanding to have the ability to express one's thoughts in that way. Every detail is drawn exactly and is consummatly integrated in the surrounding. The kind of how she links things, which aren't matching up anyway for some people, is also high art, I would say. Every drawing has to be considered precisly, what can be better done on her MySpace site. (link's beneath)

Anja Plaschg, known as Soap&Skin is currently one of the most exciting musicians in the austrian music scene. She is from a little village in Styria and 18 years old. My little treasure

Mijn Schatje, Paris

Once upon a time there was a little girl called Marie, whose Dutch Grandmother used to call her "mijn schatje" ("my little treasure"). She lived in an eighteenth century castle in France and spent her days reading fairy tales, making jewelry out of the flowers in the garden and playing Princess and Knights with her brother and her pony. When Marie grew up she moved to Paris, got seriously into Electro and learned ninja Illustrator skills, which she now uses to capture her childhood fairy tale in meticulously beautiful vectored lines.

At the moment her work can be seen at the KochXBos gallery in Amsterdam from March the 14th to April the 14th 2009. "Storytelling" is the name of her solo show: Human History shows that there have always been stories, legends, tales, even at the times when most of the people couldn't read, they learned stories by heart and told their children and their children told their children and so on...

Mjin Schatje: "When I was a young child, my parents told me stories or read a book for me before I went to sleep. I remember how I loved it, sometimes it was very dreamy and sometimes a bit scary, but it always made me travel to some exciting new worlds just by feeding my imagination. I believe this is how my creativity was born, and I still believe that even the grown ups need somebody to tell them a story. Storytelling is the action of expressing and sharing ones imagination (and hope) with the world."

More than a model...an inspiring muse and a great artist: "I was playing with pencils while the other girls were playing with dolls."
She is currently collaborating with Miuccia Prada to produce a book of her own artwork in the upcoming year. It will be in the form of a scrapbook and include drawings, photography, and collages. She might also be illustrating a children's book for Karl Lagerfeld.
